漆（うるし）は、東アジアに自生する「ウルシノキ（Toxicodendron vernicifluum）」の樹液から得られる天然素材で、日本では縄文時代から器や家具、仏具、建築装飾に用いられてきました。幾度も塗りと研ぎを重ねることで、耐久性と独特の光沢を備えた表面が生まれます。
こうして仕上げられた漆器は、まるで光を纏うかのように輝いたり、静かな水面のような奥深い表情をみせたりします。
時とともに変化していく漆は世代を超えて受け継がれる生きた遺産です。
