Overview
MUSUBI is a series of interior ornaments and wearable objects that connect material, form, and meaning through the act of tying.
Composed of handcrafted elements made from diverse materials, each piece is linked by traditional Japanese knotting techniques—transforming functional binding into an expressive and symbolic form.
「結」は、素材・かたち・意味を“結ぶ”という行為によって接続する、室内装飾品およびアクセサリーのシリーズです。
異なる素材と技法によって制作された要素を、伝統的な飾り結びによって繋ぐことで、機能としての結びを、表現として再構築しています。
Concept
The concept of musubi holds deep cultural significance in Japan—
representing connection, protection, continuity, and transformation.
In this work, the act of tying is reinterpreted as a contemporary gesture,
linking materials, disciplines, and meanings across boundaries.
Each piece embodies both physical connection and symbolic resonance.
「結び」は日本文化において、繋がり、守り、循環、変化といった意味を持つ重要な概念です。
本作では、この“結ぶ”という行為を現代的に再解釈し、素材や分野、意味の異なる要素を横断的に接続します。
それぞれの作品は、物理的な接続であると同時に、象徴的な意味を内包しています。
Form & Function
Each piece is composed of material elements connected through traditional decorative knotting.
It can function both as an interior object and as a wearable accessory.
Historically, knotting developed from practical use into decorative expression,
while also carrying symbolic meanings of protection and connection.
異素材で制作された玉を、伝統的な飾り結びによって繋ぐことで構成されています。
装飾品として空間に取り入れるだけでなく、アクセサリーとして身につけることも可能です。
結びは実用的な技術でありながら装飾へと発展してきた歴史を持ち、空間や身体を守る意味も内包しています。
Material & Structure
Each element is crafted using distinct materials and techniques,
resulting in unique textures, finishes, and weights.
By combining ceramics, metals, lacquer, and wood,
the work creates a dialogue between contrasting material qualities.
玉はそれぞれ異なる素材と技法によって制作されており、質感、光沢、重量に個性を持っています。
陶、金属、漆、木などの素材が組み合わさることで、異なる物質の関係性と対話が生まれます。
Customization
Both the material elements and knotting styles can be selected freely,
allowing for fully customized combinations.
Each piece is unique, defined by its specific configuration and relationships.
玉と結びの種類は自由に選択することができ、お好みに応じた組み合わせで制作が可能です。
一点ごとに構成が異なるため、それぞれが固有の関係性と意味を持つ作品となります。

integrating ceramics, metalwork, lacquer, textile, and sculptural practices.
